Types of Portland slag cement

However among all varieties, Portland cement is one of the commonplace cements which is basically used in construction works all around the world. Few Portland cement types:

White Cement:  this is a type of cement where into the cement white clay kaolin and white chalk are scattered.  The content also holds little amounts of iron oxide and manganese oxide. Due to the presence of white chalk, the white cement appears white in color. When there is a need to prepare white or off white colored concrete, this sort of cement is used. Buildings which are needed to have white or off white external shade, this cement is chosen. This variety is widely available in market.

Masonry Cement: Limestone and hydrated lime these materials are mixed with Portland cement. For making masonry mortars such as plastering, brick lying, rendering this cement type is optimally used. When mixture is suitably prepared, when the cement is having sufficient amount of minerals, required amount of air entraining plasticizers are blended to generate air bubbles. Typically, varying sorts of sands and sufficient water is mixed to make the mortars more functional and consistent. These mortars never get frozen and thaw resistant in damp and newly hardened situation.

Expansive Cements:  expansive cement is basically the mixture of calcium sulfoaluminate clinkers, Portland slag cement  and some amount of gypsum. This cement is basically meant for compensation of concretes which are known for shrinking when they dry. This mixture is used for either the compensation of the contraction of the concrete or sometimes enhancing the volume of the concrete the moment it is arranged.

Silica Fumes Portland Cement:  as the name suggests the mixture contains the silica fumes along with Portland cement. These cements are known for unconditional strength and potency. These cements are wonderfully durable and hard.

Blast Furnace Portland Cement: 70% granulated blast furnace slag is there in this mixture and along with some gypsum, Portland cement is mixed. This mixture is having high strength and the sulfate resistance is increased in amount for extra strength.
